Alegria Portuguese Folk Dancers

The Portuguese Folk Dancers of Manitoba Inc. are a group of young talented performers dedicated to portraying the culture and tradition of beautiful Portugal. Their energetic performances capture the attention and admiration of audiences wherever they perform. The brilliant costumes the dancers wear are representative of the various regions of Portugal; displaying not only geography, but history and tradition as well. Their performances are lively and entertaining and demand dedication and hard work. The Portuguese Folk Dancers have been working to preserve and share the traditions of their homeland since their inception several years ago. They perform for many occasions year-round at various venues, including Folklorama’s Pavilion of Portugal. (from Folkolorama). 

Alegria is the name of the senior dance group. The other s are Infantil,, Luzitos, Juventude, and Mociedade.

 

O RANCHO da Associação Português de Manitoba é um grupo de jovens dançarinos e artistas talentosos dedicado a manter a grande cultura e tradição das danças flocloricas de todo Portugal. O grupo foi formado em meados da década de 1960. O rancho é composto por quatro nivéis/grupos, onde cada um exibinde o vestido foclorico de uma região diferente de Portugal. Eles são Infantil,, Luzitos, Juventude, Mociedade. e Alegria.

A Festa do Divino Espírito Santo da Associção Portuguesa de Manitoba (APM) vai ser celebrada este Setembro no Parque Recreativo e Desportivo, Associação Portuguesa de Manitoba de Sábado 29 de Agosto até Domingo 30 de Agosto, 2014.

The Feast of the Divine Holy Spirit will be celebrated this August at the Portuguese Recreational and Sports Park from Saturday August 29 to Monday August 30, 2014.

A Associação Portuguesa de Manitoba, foi fundada no dia 3 de  março 1966 por um grupo de Português-Canadianos que pretendiam celebrar o seu património Português, língua e cultura, e ao mesmo tempo, facilitar a integração de Português-Canadianos na tela da sua nova terra e nação. 

The Portuguese Association of Manitoba was founded on March 3, 1966 by a group of Portuguese-Canadians that wished to celebrate their Portuguese heritage, language and culture, while facilitating the integration of Portuguese-Canadians into the fabric of their new home and nation.
